CANDO community outreach workshops
Nick worked as a workshop practitioner for CANDO which is a part of the Newcastle University School of Medicine. The public engagement element of the project included art workshops alongside talks about a new form of treatment for epilepsy.
The aim was to find out how people felt about having a brain implant, and the social implications.
Nick ran cyanotype and lino cut workshops, as a way of engaging schools, community organisations and the general public
Nick has also been working as an outreach workshop practitioner for Northern Print, as a part of their Arts Council England funded project ‘Re Imagining Digital’. This involved engaging with community groups online, as a way to explore digital ways of engaging with people, and reaching those who are at risk of feeling isolated.
Nick has shown participants how to print at home using simple objects and techniques. Participants were also sent equipment to use themselves at home, with Nick’s guidance.
